A new group of participants starts retraining in the specialty of "Resource and Energy Efficient Technologies" in Kyiv

NorgeOn February 18th there took place an official opening of the spring semester of the "Ukraine-Norway" project. It’s a project for professional retraining of retired military personnel and their family members being jointly held with the Institute of postgraduate education of NTU "KPI", the International Foundation for Social Adaptation and Center for resource-efficient and cleaner production (CRECP).
This is the second group that begins training in CRECP in the specialty of "Resource and Energy Efficient Technologies". Last year, 30 students received the completion certificates.

Adv. board 2015Meeting of Advisory Board on International Project UNIDO “Promoting the adaptation and adoption of RECP (Resource Efficientand Cleaner Production) throug hthe establishment and operation of a Cleaner Production Centre (CPC) inUkraine” was held.

Annual meeting of project’s Advisory board “Promoting the adaptation and adoption of RECP (Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production) through the establishment and operation of a Cleaner Production Centre (CPC) in Ukraine” was held on 21 of January 2016. Project was established under cooperation of Ukraine with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).

According to the World Economic Forum (WEF), Ukraine «stuck» at the 70-80 interval of ranking positions at the Global Competitiveness Report, inlasttenyears. One of the factors, which seriously limits the competitiveness of both, individual enterprises and the economy as whole, is high energy and resource capacity of manufacturing processes in Ukraine. World Energy Council (WEC), which issues annual ranking on national energy sustainability, emphases, that high level of energy use and amount of the emissions remains the key danger for the energy security of Ukraine. UNIDO project address those issues.

The conference "RESOURCE EFFICIENCY OF ENTERPRISES IN THE KYIV REGION" was held on 8th of December 2015 at the Exhibition hall of Science Park "Kyiv Polytechnika", during which the results of resource efficient and cleaner production’s projects in the Kyiv region by the end of 2015 were presented.

The conference was organized within the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Project "Promoting the Adaptation and Adoption of Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production through Establishment and Operation of the Cleaner Production Centre in Ukraine.

Specialists of about 30 of Zaporizhzhia companies took part in training on efficient use of electricity in industry

On October 7-8 2015, Center of Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production with support of Zaporizhzhіa Chamber of Commerce held a specialized training course for energy efficiency in industry in the city of Zaporizhzhіa. The author of the course is an electrical engineer with international experience in the field of energy efficiency of production processes Holger Papst (Lenum AG, Switzerland).

Best practices in energy saving to municipal enterprises in Kyiv

The seminar was organized by the Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production Centre with the assistance of Desnianska district municipal administration. As a guest speaker was invited a leading expert from UNIDO, managing director of the STENUM Company, Johannes Fresner (The Republic of Austria).

Starting point for cooperation under "Ukraine-Norway" project

Kick-off 23.09.15September 23, 2015 at the National Technical University of Ukraine "KPI", Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production Centre and International Foundation for Social Adaptation held the first meeting of the retraining of servicemen in "Resource efficient technologies" course in the framework of "Ukraine-Norway" project. In the end of training, participants will receive the necessary knowledge and skills to become experts demanded in today's labor market.

Opportunities for increasing resource efficiency of companies

On June 9th, 2015, the awareness-raising seminar "Improving resource efficiency of the companies: ways of cooperation with the Center of Resource-Efficient and Cleaner Production (RECPC)" was held in the conference-room of Pereyaslav-Khmelnitskyi City Council. The event was supported by the City Mayor Mr. Kostin. The seminar was organized by the Center of Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production (Kyiv) together with Pereyaslav-Khmelnytsky City Council. The seminar was attended by the representatives of private and municipal enterprises, educational and medical institutions, NGOs from Pereyaslav-Khmelnytsky district.

The seminar focused on the perspectives of the development of the project of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) "Promoting the adaptation and adoption of resource efficient and cleaner production (RECP) through the establishment and operation of a Cleaner Production Centre (CPC) inUkraine" in Kyiv region, particularly, in Pereyaslav-Khmelnytsky district. The project aims to increase the competitiveness and environmental responsibility of the Ukrainian enterprises by implementing RECP methods, practices and technologies.

International Conference “Women in Industrial and Financial Sectors of Economy: Agenda for Ukraine”

International Conference “Women in Industrial and Financial Sectors of Economy: Agenda for Ukraine” took place in Kyivin Big conference-hallat the National Academy of Science of Ukraine on May 21st 2015. Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production Centre (RECPC) and International Financial Corporation (IFC) hosted the Conference.

The Conference became apart of the project supported by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). The project on introduction of resource efficient and cleaner production is implemented in Ukraine with financial support from the governments of Switzerland and the Republic of Austria. Gender equality, which is an integral part of sustainable development is a cross-cutting task for UNIDO and IFC. Drawing attention to gender issues helps to enhance the role of women in global and national development, in the first turn, due to transformation of the development model and establishment of knowledge economy and green economy.

The Conclusions of the awareness-raising seminar “Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production: Opportunities for Agrarian Sector”

On April 2, 2015 Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production Centre conducted the awareness-raising seminar “Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production: Opportunities for Agrarian Sector” in Kyiv with participation of International Financial Corporation (IFC) and German-Ukrainian Fund. The seminar participants (farmers, agri-business companies’ managers, representatives of expert institutions and organizations) discussed the perspectives of resource efficient and cleaner production development in agrarian sector and intercrossing industries.

Discussion topics:

- RECP Centre experience in introduction of resource efficient and cleaner production and potential for agrarian companies;

- perspectives of introduction of resource efficient and cleaner production methodology for private farmers, agri-business companies, organic producers;

- IFC program "Creation of incentives for investments in resource efficiency", financial mechanisms, cooperation with the UNIDO projects;

- problems and challenges of introduction of RECP mechanisms in agri-business companies: high cost of credits, the lack of trust to financial institutions and innovations, low level of awareness of RECP and the lack of access to information.

Roundtable “United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Project on Enhancing Resource Efficiency of the Enterprises from Agro-industrial Complex: Prospective for Vinnytsia Region”

February 12, 2015 in the premises of Vinnytsia Chamber of Commerce and Industry the roundtable “United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Project on Enhancing Resource Efficiency of the Enterprises from Agro-industrial Complex: Prospective for Vinnytsia Region” took place. The organizers of the roundtable are Resource efficient and cleaner production Centre (Kyiv) and Vinnytsia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI). The event gathered about forty participants, such as representatives of Vinnytsia Regional State Administration and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, company owners and managers, farmers, environment and economy specialists.

Roundtable was devoted to current results of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Project “Promoting the adaptation and implementation of resource-efficient and cleaner production” realization in Vinnitsa region and the prospects for its further implementation in the region. The aim of the Project established by the initiative of Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine is to increase the competitiveness and environmental responsibility of the enterprises through the practical application of resource-efficient and cleaner production (RECP) methodology. In Ukraine the UNIDO Project is functioning since 2013 in four regions (Odessa, Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia and Vinnytsia regions) with the financial support of the Swiss Confederation and the Republic of Austria.

RECP Centre with the support of the Department of Foreign Economic Affairs and European Integration of Odessa Regional State Administration held joint conference "Implementation UNIDO Methodology  of Resource-efficient and Cleaner Production in Ukraine: Prospects for Odessa region" on January 28, 2015 in Odessa.

The conference aimed at raising awareness of managers of industrial enterprises of Odessa region on the possibilities of implementation resource-efficient and cleaner production and establishing cooperation with RECP Centre.
