“Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production” – a Training Course for Universities in Ukraine

An important step towards the sustainable development is the formation of future generations with modern thinking in the direction of efficient resource consumption and arming the latest international approaches to take the necessary decisions on the industry development.
On May 18, 2017 in Aarhus Information and Educational Centre of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine it was held a seminar “Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production- a Training Course for Universities in Ukraine”, organized in the frame of demonstration RECP component of “Greening Economies in the Eastern Neighborhood of European Union (EaP GREEN)” programme, funded by the EU.
The event brought together about 30 people, including representatives of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine, Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, representatives of universities, including Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, State Environmental Academy of Postgraduate Education and Management, Institute of Economics Industry NAS of Ukraine, Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture, National University of “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy”, Union of Small, Medium and Privatized Enterprises of Ukraine etc.

Memorandum of Cooperation to support Platform for Green Economy Growth signed in Kyiv.

IMG 2017-04-04 173403On 4 April 2017 the Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) to support Green Economy Growth Platform was signed in Kyiv. The Memorandum was signed by the Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production Center, the Centre “CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) Development”, Public Union “Global Agreement Network in Ukraine”, the Program to support green modernization of Ukrainian economy (performed by GIZ GmbH, The Green Economy Institute and the Trade Chamber of Commerce and Industry if Ukraine.

The Memorandum reports “Green economy is the momentum to push sustainable development forward. The future of Ukraine depends on its own ability to get the national economy modernized, to upgrade and improve national economy competitiveness, to master and utilize natural resources more efficiently while at the same time reducing environmental degradation.”

The condominium management authorities in Sviatoshyn district (Kyiv city) have learnt the RECP principles

IMG 20170221 191946In February-March 2017 the trainings “Energy saving technologies in the utility sector” were held for the heads of condominiums in Sviatoshynsky district (Kyiv city). They were organized by the Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production Centre in cooperation with “Centr Komfortu LLC.” (Comfort Centre). During the studies the heads of condominiums had an opportunity to get familiar with modern methods of reducing unreasonable energy and material consumption while at the same time maintaining the proper operation of engineering systems in residential houses and utilities in public sector. The training course covered five essential topics: air ventilation systems; heating system; hot water supply systems; thermal insulation; lighting; using alternative energy sources.IMG 7773

Delivering Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production (RECP) in Ukraine and moving towards the sustainable industrial development

SCThe annual Steering Committee Meeting of the project “Promoting the Adaptation and Adoption of RECP through the Establishment and Operation of a Cleaner Production Centre in Urkaine”  took place in the premises of NTUU "KPI" on 1 March 2017. The objective of the meeting was to present the activities and results in 2016 and the work plan for 2017 including cooperation activities with government officials, private sector, academia, financial instituions and inernatinal organizations.

 

The opening remarks were provided by Michajlo Zgurovsky, Rector NTUU KPI, Nicolas Guigas, Deputy Director of Cooperation, Swiss Cooperation Office, Florian Kohlfürst, Attaché, Austrian Embassy in Kiev and Petra Schwager, Industrial Development Officer, UNIDO and Heinz Leuenberger, Chief Technical Advisor, UNIDO.

Pocket Guide on RECP for construction materials sector has been presented at the Construction Congress of Ukraine

17.03.03 -1On March 3, 2017 director of RECP Centre Igor Shylovych presented the Centre's achievements in the field of energy, material and water consumption efficiency for the construction materials sector at the conference "Concrete, Steel Concrete-2017", organized by the All-Ukrainian Union of Manufacturers of Building Materials within the framework of Construction Congress of Ukraine. In addition to practical examples of the introduction of RECP options at the enterprises of the sector, the Pocket Guide on RECP for construction materials sector was presented. This Pocket Guide was prepared under the demonstration RECP component of "Greening Economies in the European Union's Eastern Neighbourhood" (EaP GREEN) programme, which is funded by the European Union.

Sharing best practices in resource-efficiency and cleaner production with business enterprises in Lviv region

Starting from now the ecologists and industrialists in Lviv region will be able to learn and implement best world practices in running production process and farming-based on resource-efficient and cleaner production approach. Appropriate arrangements were fixed in Cooperation Agreement signed on January 10th, 2017, between RECP Centre and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources at Lviv Regional State Administration.

The Parties within Cooperation Agreement framework agreed to join efforts in implementing common objectives to improve environmental and economic performance of the industry and increase investment attractiveness of the region.

Greening Ukrainian industry is a pathway to Western European markets

киев финал 3Greening Ukrainian industry is a pathway to Western European markets – is the summary concluded by the participants of the National Conference "Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production Implementation in Ukraine" held on December 14th, 2016, in Kyiv. The conference was organized within the framework of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).

"We strongly recommend governmental authorities urgently doing the following at time being: talking about resource efficiency, rewarding successful business, demonstrating examples and supporting champions, making other enterprises follow the champions’ example, using fiscal and price tools reasonably to provide greening industry potential grow fast", – reported Tatiana Chernyavskaya, the International Coordinator of Demonstration RECP Project under EaP GREEN Programme, UNIDO.

UNIDO PROJECT TEAM CAN HELP SAVING OVER 2 MILLION UAH DUE TO IMPLEMENTING RESOURCE EFFICIENT AND CLEANER PRODUCTION PROPOSALS

IMG 2016-11-25 110108 1The conference "IMPROVING RESOURCE EFFICIENCY IN LVIV REGION: UNIDO PROJECT ACHIEVEMENTS AND OUTLOOKS" in Lviv, November 25th, 2016, has launched a series of final conferences to be held soonest time November-December, 2016. The conference was organized by the Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production Centre (RECPC).

The Conference presented cumulative annual project results on resource efficiency and cleaner production implementation at the enterprises and facilities in Lviv region. During 2016 in Lviv region,
5 enterprises participated in Project implementation. The Centre conducted comprehensive technical audits resulting in developing technical solutions and proposals that provide electricity consumption reduction by 1,729.466 UAH as well as cost savings for materials purchase by 600,000 UAH annually.

The successive 2016 year in Lviv region produced 19 experts in resource efficient and cleaner production that will be able for further implementing RECP approaches and methods at the enterprises and in the household sector.

The conference "IMPROVING RESOURCE EFFICIENCY IN LVIV REGION: UNIDO PROJECT ACHIEVEMENTS AND OUTLOOKS" aims at expanding the UNIDO project participants involved, attracting new businesses and increasing public awareness, companies, academia and other stakeholders on resource-efficient and cleaner production (RECP). 

Memorandum of Understanding between RECP Centre and Danish Business Association

DSC 0175 1Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production Center signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between RECPC and Danish Business Association. The Parties agreed to combine forces in developing and implementing effective activity models of Ukrainian enterprises, institutions and communities towards energy and resource efficiency.

This Memorandum was signed on November, 4th, 2016, within the framework of International Economic Forum in Lviv.

The Parties jointly aim at promoting RECP principles and approaches in regions of Ukraine and countrywide. Encouraging industrial enterprises in conducting technical audits and implementing energy and resource-saving measures is considered one of the promoting tools. To make this happen businesses companies and enterprises can apply for grant funding within Neighborhood Energy Facility (NEF) program thus obtaining options to recover energy audits cost and develop new climate initiatives.
