RECP Principles and its Implementation at SEF-2017

The 9th International Sustainable Energy Forum and Exhibition of Eastern Europe SEF-2017 Kyiv took place on October 9-11 in Kyiv. SEF-2107 is big platform for energy efficiency, renewable energy, and new energy technologies. It is traditionally brings together participants not only from Ukraine but also from the neighbouring Eastern European and CIS countries. During three days of SEF-2017 Kyiv, the latest changes and initiatives in legislation and state policy of Ukraine and neighbouring countries, sustainable energy solutions for businesses and industrial sector, utilities and infrastructure, and private households were presented and discussed.

SEF Kyiv Forum and Exhibition is meeting of stakeholders for promoting energy efficiency and renewable energies, learning about successful policies and inspiring innovations to meet new energy and climate goals. 440 delegates of forum, 58 exhibitors and 2.5 thousand visitors of the exhibition from 32 countries became participants of the industry event.

A number of workshops for small enterprises and household was hosted. Thus, within the framework of SEF-2017 KYIV, the workshop "Resource Efficient and Clean Production – Principles and Implementation Experience" was held on October 11, 2017. It presented results of the demonstration project "Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production" under the EU-funded EaP GREEN programme. The workshop was attended by near 40 participants, including producers of energy effective equipment (developers, manufacturers, installers and distributors), consulting companies, energy supplying companies, financing institutions, regulatory bodies, investors, NGOs, government officials and mass media.

Ms Mariia Tsybka, National Coordinator of the RECP Demonstration Project, introduced the audience with the EaP GREEN programme, the concept of RECP, its main principles, steps of implementation and the basics of the circular economy.

Mr Andrii Vorfolomeiev, Deputy National Coordinator of the RECP demonstration project, told about the results of RECP implementation at enterprises and showed detailed examples of successful application of RECP approaches by Ukrainian companies.

After the presentation part, there was time when all the participants of the workshop were able to ask questions on application of RECP at their enterprises, possible forms of interaction, support of the project and its further development.

Considering the direction of the exhibition, the demonstration RECP project presented its own booth, where visitors could familiarize with the results of the project operating for 3 years. Thus, Ms Kateryna Romanova, National Communication and Advocacy Expert of RECP in Ukraine, introduced to exhibitors the publications developed within the framework of the RECP project, like RECP Primer or RECP Guides for different sectors.

In addition, the demonstration project distributed tickets among enterprises, experts and teaching stuff of universities in order they could visit the exhibition and seminars and get acquainted with the latest achievements in energy efficiency.
