One of the key prerequisites of economic development of the region is the increase of the resource efficiency of the enterprises. On July 21, 2016 in Kharkiv under the support of Kharkiv Regional State Administrationwas held the conference «Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production (RECP) at the Industrial Enterprises of Kharkiv region» in a framework of international Programme “Greening Economies in the Eastern Neighbourhood of European Union (EaP GREEN)”. The aim of the conference was to discuss the experience of raising competitiveness of industrial enterprises and ways of realization of the potential of Kharkiv region.

The event that was held in a hall of Kharkiv Regional Institute of Public Administration of the National Academy of Public Administration attached to the Office of the President of Ukraine. It was visited by the representatives of the localenterprises, state organs and NGOs.

The conference was opened by the greeting speech of Oleksiy Lyska, Head of analysis and presentation of Department of competitiveness raising of Kharkiv region of Kharkiv regional state administration and Valerii Pavshuk, Technical director of Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production Centre (RECPC).

The results of the implementation of demonstration project of EaP GREEN programme «Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production (RECP)» were highlighted by Mariia Tsybka, National coordinator of the project. Starting from year 2014, fifteen enterprises have passed the RECP assessment under the UNIDO methodic and thirty-five enterprises of Kharkiv and Chernihiv regions have become the members of the RECP clubs. In the framework of the project were trained near twenty RECP-experts, constantly developed and distributed the manuals for the competitiveness raising of the enterprises.

The experiences and developments of Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production Centre, that was established by UNIDO in year 2013, were shared with the guests by Valerii Pavshuk, Technical director of RECP Centre. After that Vitalii Krukovskyi, the expert of RECP Centre has givenexamples of technical solutions from RECP implementation at the national enterprises.

RECP Clubs Facilitator in Ukraine, Ivan Omelchuk told the audience about the principals of work of RECP Club, that is been functioning in Kharkiv region since year 2015, and also explained the benefits that can be obtained by Club’s members. After passing the training, the companies will improve their knowledge of RECP approaches and will also learn to develop and implement effective RECP methods independently. The most active participants of RECP Club in Kharkiv were awarded by UNIDO certificates. Among them:

After the awarding, the representatives of the enterprises-participants of “Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production Club” in Kharkiv region have shared their impressions and achievements from the participation in a Club.

In the end of the conference Mariia Tsybka and Oleksiy Lyska have thanked to the audience, wished the enterprises to keep going forward and also outlined the ways for further cooperation for the development of the region.
