Sustainable economic development of the region is impossible without raising the resourceefficiency of its enterprises. That is why on July 15, 2016 was hold the conference «Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production (RECP) at the Industrial Enterprises of Chernihiv region» under the support of Chernihiv Regional State Administration in a frame of international Programme “Greening Economies in the Eastern Neighbourhood of European Union (EaP GREEN)”.

The representatives of the enterprises, state organs, NGOs and expert society of Chernihiv region came together at the conference-hall of Chernihiv Regional State Administration to discuss the experience of raising the competitevness of enterprises and the ways of realization of the potential of the region.

The conference was opened by the greeting speech of Iuliia Svyrydenko, Director of the Department of Economic Development of Chernihiv Regional State Administration and Ihor Shylovych, Director of Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production Centre (RECPC).

The results of the implementation of demonstration project of EaP GREEN programme «Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production (RECP)» were highlighted by Mariia Tsybka, National coordinator of the project. Starting from year 2014, fifteen enterprises have passed the RECP assessment under the UNIDO methodic and thirty-five enterprises of Kharkiv and Chernihiv regions have become the members of the RECP clubs. In the framework of the project were trained near 20 RECP-experts, constantly developed and distributed the manuals for the competitiveness raising of the enterprises.

At the same time since year 2013 in Ukraine is operating Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production Centre, that was created by UNIDO. The experiences and best practices of the Centre were shared by its director, Igor Shylovych.

Christoph Hugi, international RECP expert and representative of the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture FiBL, shared with the participants of the conference the experience of RECP implementation in Switzerland. He described the differences in work with large and small enterprises, listed the main obstacles for resource saving implementation and also factors that stimulate this process.

RECP Club in Chernihiv region is been functioning since year 2015 and its members are the industrial enterprises. The principals and benefits of its introduced Ivan Omelchuk, RECP Clubs facilitator in Ukraine. After passing the training, the companies have not only improved their knowledge of the RECP approaches, but also learned to independently develop and implement effective RECP methods. The most active participants received UNIDO certificates. During the event the following companies were awarded:

After the awarding, the representatives of the enterprises-participants of “Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production Club” in Chernihiv region have shared their own achievements from the participation in a Club. In the final speech national coordinator Mariia Tsybka and the Deputy director of the Department of economic development Poltoratska Svitlana wished the enterprises to keep going forward and also outlined the ways for further cooperation for the development of the region.
